The Sea Kayak intro course is designed to teach you the basic skills so you can control your Sea kayak and perform self-rescue on easy to moderate waters.
Day one is spent on theory, learning the strokes, craft control and self\assisted rescue techniques. Day two involves a short trip as a group of around 4-5 hours.
You must have completed a Level 1 (Flatwater) Kayak Course, be able to swim 50m with clothes on while wearing a PFD. The course is open to Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Leaders. Please refer to the booking sheets from the Paddle Team for clothing and equipment requirements.
Please note if you cannot swim you are not permitted to participate.
Successful completion of the course will earn members the Anchor Badge.

The Level 2 Sea Kayak Enclosed Sea course is designed to expand and consolidate your basic skills and undertake journeys on easy to moderate waters.
Weekend One
Weekend one is a base camp\hall with no requirement to carry gear other than your personal food for the day, spare clothes and safety gear
Day one is reviewing theory, strokes, craft control and self\assisted rescue techniques and a short trip of 3-4 hours.
Day two will be an extended trip as a group of around 5-6 hours.
Weekend Two
This is a 2 day overnight journey where you will be touring both days, camping overnight, and carrying all your equipment in your boat.
Location for both weekends will be determined closer to the course date and is dependant on weather and tide conditions but is expected to be in the environs of Port Phillip
