Sea Kayak Intro
The Sea Kayak intro course is designed to teach you the basic skills so you can control your Sea kayak and perform self-rescue on easy to moderate waters.
Day one is spent on theory, learning the strokes, craft control and self\assisted rescue techniques. Day two involves a short trip as a group of around 4-5 hours.
You must have completed a Level 1 (Flatwater) Kayak Course, be able to swim 50m with clothes on while wearing a PFD. The course is open to Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Leaders. Please refer to the booking sheets from the Paddle Team for clothing and equipment requirements.
Please note if you cannot swim you are not permitted to participate.
Successful completion of the course will earn members the Anchor Badge.

What do you need to bring for Sea Kayak courses?
- complete change of clothes including shoes and underwear)
- Shoes to wear in the water (no crocs, thongs or open toes sandals)
- wet suit
- wind-proof jacket or cag
- drink bottle
- lunch in dry bag
- personal first aid kit
- lip balm
- sunglasses with lanyard
- Personal rescue gear
